It is unique in the world and the only competition of this type in Poland. The idea of the competition stems from the assumption that the phenomenon of jazz, perceived as a universal artistic language, is undoubtedly one of the elements linking European and world culture and its traditions.

The competition is aimed at young artists for whom jazz is a common value, combining various national musical experiences. The aim of the competition is to promote the compositional achievements of young composers (up to 35 years old). It is the only composition competition of this type in Poland intended for musicians composing jazz themes and composers inspired by the phenomenon of jazz. The submitted compositions may not be published anywhere, recorded or performed in public. The competition also arouses interest outside of Poland.

The winners of the Composers' Competition of K. Komedy are, among others: Marcin Małecki, Maciej Ulatowski, Aleksandra Tomaszewska, Przemysław Raminiak, Maciej Garbowski, Michał Tomaszczyk, Bartosz Smorągiewicz, Michał Ciesielski, Paweł Kaczmarczyk, Sabina Myrczek, Brazilians: Thiago Trajano and Zezo Olimpio from Rio de Janeiro, Aleksandra Mońko-Allen and Julia Zuzanna Sokołowska from the USA, Stepanka Balcarova from the Czech Republic, Anton Pyvovarov from Ukraine, Sebastian Faust and Felix Schrack from Germany, Betram Liene-Bonlieu from Canada.
